These Three Are Everywhere - The "These are Everywhere!" Post

I can't be the only one having these pop up? Three, maybe four colours, with a vibrant tone but still somewhat... ...I don't know... ...pastel? ...faded? ...20's kind of feel?  They've got a serious vintage vibe and I'm loving them!

I noticed them at IDS in a few different places.

On these Owls from Urban Barn for instance

and on these gorgeous glossy tiles

and in a modified colour on these tiles.

I'm out and guess what, I'm looking for a crib.  Who knew right? Its not like I've been on one big baby stuff hunt for months or anything.  Why not?  Let's stop by Ikea, see what they have. And what do they have?  A new crib, the Somnat, and its available in these exact colours.

Keep your eyes open kids, you're going to be seeing these everywhere.

Monday Morning Pics - Good Weekend

Busy Weekend.  IDS and my Birthday all wrapped into one.  And a long weekend at that.  I'm considering Thursday night part of the weekend in this case.  It wasn't exactly a University Thursday night, but I was out AND late getting home.  These days, that totally counts.

I did a little early share with you for IDS, no need to see more of that yet, wait till Tuesday! Instead, let me let you in on the other thing I did this weekend. Eat. Birthday breakfast was
Mushroom and extra-old cheddar Omelettes, bacon and good rye toast.  The best part you ask? Saving the bacon drippings to roast these potatoes in later as part of a nice healthy dinner! Look how crispy.

My loving wife, and soon to be mother, made sure I had a few gifts to open as well.  My homemade card (she lovingly? Sarcastically? Smart-ass-ly? calls me Boss), fun socks, delicious single malt, and soapstone ice cubes to chill it without diluting it.  You'll also notice the stork finger puppet on top, meaning "Save this Scotch for an upcoming celebration".

Message received.

Baby, I'll Never Let You Go - The New Addition Edition

A few of you know, but generally outside of close family and friends, we've been keeping it pretty tight. Just like Stephanie's big news from a few weeks back, Mel and I are expecting a stork to fly in through the window!
Come spring, we'll be carrying around a little swaddled bundle.

Now dear readers, for those of you who don't know me, you're probably thinking, "Wow, congrats, but what does this have to do with the blog?"  Well, it means that I'm going to try to share a project with you, from start to finish.

The project? The nursery of course!

A little background on the space.  We live the condo life and we're fortunate to have a pretty a good sized space to do it in.  This isn't our forever home, but we like the size and the ease to leave without worry about a furnace or a water-pipe breaking down.

It is however, not an endless space.  There is no basement rec-room. We don't have 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. We have 2 beds, 2 baths.  Bringing another member into the family will be a bit of a challenge if we want to be able to entertain, and have guests stay over (not to mention the challenge of raising a little person!).

Do you see where I'm coming from? I need to make this room baby friendly and baby cozy but I need to keep it comfortable and be able to convert it for last minute guests.

Forgive the quality, iPhone composite
As you can see, the room is being slightly neglected. We know we're updating it, so we've been using it to store some new items, both Christmas (hey, 'tis the season!) and Baby.

The Needs:
  • Colour Scheme
  • Layout
  • Crib
  • Change Table
  • Rocker
  • Sleeper Sofa
We're not finding out his/her gender, total surprise come baby time, so colour scheme will be largely neutral. We plan on adding a little femininity or masculinity depending on who we get to meet when the time comes.

Some of my neutral favourites.

You can't help but love the Restoration Hardware vibe, these are really beautiful rooms, but I think I'd like a bit more "life". Now some Resto pieces? One of these cribs? Sure!

A little closer? I think so.  But maybe a bit too formal. Simple closer scheme though.  Fun, but still adult too.

These last three are a little more to my liking. I've been wanting to work a grey space into the condo, but one with some colour.  White works well with everything, Chantilly for the trim?  Maybe Old Soul for the walls?

So please, stay tuned, more to come.  This should be a lot of fun writing about, and a lot of fun sharing with you.
