Living Etc Withdrawal

It was the end of April and I was having trouble locating the April edition of Living Etc!  It just so happens to be my fav UK magazine, so you can imagine my disappointment.

My Living Etc addiction started back in April 2009 and I have been a faithful reader ever since.  I really should get a subscription but I kind of enjoy heading down to my favourite magazine store buying stacks and stacks of my favs.  Maison de la Presse on Yorkville Ave has the best selection!

This is one of my favourite house tours on Living Etc.

I finally did get my April edition and found out Living Etc is celebrating 15 years!

Happy Birthday Living Etc!!

School - Toronto

One of the original reasons we started this blog was to go out and explore this great city of ours.  We managed to accomplish that quite a few times and had fun doing it.  So I've decided to keep up that tradition, I'm going to get to know Toronto a little bit better this summer.

On Friday I went for lunch at School.  A great restaurant located in Liberty Village, just off of King St W.

Exposed brick wall, stained concrete floors and black cabinetry throughout, it is a well designed space.

All the clocks are set to 3:30, end of the school day!

I had the School Veggie Burger with the Ice Tea du jour.  Both were delicious.

Every table had an apple on it, which was a nice touch.  Our bill also came in this brown progress report envelope, a great way to end the School experience.

I will for sure go back to try their brunch menu and to enjoy their patio!

{Happy Friday}

Be still my heart...
via
Merci! Merci! Merci! Yes I said it three times, that's how excited I am.  Merci, my fav Paris store now has online shopping!  Yep I said it! How dangerous is that?! Yikes.

I've spent the last week thinking, wondering, doubting and debating my involvement with our blog.  With Bill and Stephanie both deciding to step down full time it has left me with a lot of questions.  They both have very wonderful reasons to be stepping away and I have decided to call those little reasons "Fred" and "Gary"  lol  I'm truly so happy for both of you guys and your new little families!

Anyways I have decided to keep on blogging here on three.  I secretly really do enjoy it, it's just the creative outlet I need right now.  Will I blog everyday?  Will it always be original content?  Probably no, but I will do what I can and when I can.  I hope you stick around walk with me down this path.

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!

Meet our Winnie

On Friday I mentioned that I'd been away a couple of weeks and that I'd explain today. Well, little fib, I wasn't away, just away from the blog.  You see, on April 4th at 10:18pm, my lovely daughter Winnie Mae was born. My wife was amazingly strong. She brought this beautiful present into the world, and I can't wait to show the world to this beautiful present.

I'm not going to show you her pretty little face.  I feel like having pictures of herself on the internet is something she should do when she is old enough to understand what that means and/or college drunk.

But, I will show you her feet.  Because they are ridiculous.

I'm going to step away from the blog for a while, though here and there I may keep posting.  I would like to say that I will keep posting every week, but the realities are that I won't be.  So stay tuned, keep reading, be creative, have fun.

 I will be.

Trendy Tile Work - Moroccan Edition

Morning good natured design folks.  Some cool tile work went up in one of my clients houses and I grabbed a snap of it for you.

What do you think? Too trendy?  Glass, Moroccan stylings, warm blue/white vibe.  I like it, will I like it in 5 years? Maybe I'm being picky.

Either way, have a good week, and be picky too.  Its good for the soul, and good for your home.

Spring has Sprung

Nothing says spring like the spring One of a Kind Show and Sale.  I was very well behaved and didn't purchase a single item, however I was tempted many times.

Some were all time favs...
1.  Hoi Bo never dissapoints. Their waxed bags are beautiful (shown top left).  One day, one day!
2.  Patrick Lajoie caught my eye with the large circular piece (shown top right) The blurred image is stunning.  I've purchased from him before.

This piece hangs in my bedroom, brings back wonderful memories of my youth. His transferred images on plywood can be purchased here

Some were new favs...
1.  This is Pamela Barsky had stacks and stacks of the funniest canvas pouches (top middle, bottom left).

via
I'm kicking myself for not getting one, however lucky for all of us we can buy them on Etsy here.

...and some made me so excited!
Etsy and One of Kind in one spot?!  What?!  It's a genius idea to say the least and the canvas bag was a nice touch!
I'm sure it was love at first sight for the both of them! I hope they have a long, loving relationship together! lol

Monday Morning - The Almost There Edition

We are almost there. 38 weeks + 4 days now. I think we're ready, can you really be ready? I don't have an answer to that one.

A little Birthday celebration for my Kapustabelly (cabbage belly, ha!)

Somewhere in between a pair of Church's and Vans.  Love these.

Monday Morning - I Must (ache) you a question Edition

Spent some time at the Home Show over the weekend.  I think my favourite find was this sign.  Don't take that as a slight to the Home Show though, it says more about me than it does that show.

I love the little cotton tail bunny.  Fill with cotton balls, pull out the tail.  Too clever?  Maybe, but I still like it!

A friend of ours brought this great gift over, full of Kiehl's baby products.  Very nice thought, very nice packaging.

Have  a good week everyone!

Monday Morning - Guu and Paper

Welcome back from the weekend.  I feel like mine is still going, been a funny few days.

Sampled some great japanese at Goo Izakaya, if you've never been, its a lot like a tapas bar. Order too many dishes and share them all with friends. Delicious.

And the paper went up!  Tada!  Finally, after months of waiting, it arrived, and we jumped on it right away.

It's a grainy shot, so I'll keep it small - more to come!

Friday Fav - Big Brick Wall Edition

Friday Fav, and its from one of the better design blogs you will ever follow.  Dezeen has been around for, well, I don't know how long.  But its been and while, and its been a good while.

Onto the picture!

Follow the link, and check out the rest of this article.  I have a super soft spot for modern additions to traditional spaces, and this is a great example of how to blend them.

Sneak Peak - A New Project In The Beaches

A little sneak peak here of a project in transition.  The home is in a fantastic location in The Beaches, down near the R.H. Water Plant.  Quiet street, trees everywhere, and incredibly private.  Down the street, cafes, restaurants and shops.  Spots like this are the reason people want to move here!

Now to share.  Like I said, this is a sneak peak, so bear with me, these aren't exactly professional.

Kitchen space is white cabinets on white cabinets.  Framed inset, classic, simple lines.  Counters are Super White Quartzcite.  Floors are walnut with just enough colour on them to hide some of the strongest variation.

This cabinet section will act as a servery for gatherings and be the coffee center for early morning brews. The coffee machine is a counter model, but it's got a dedicated water line and everything needed will be housed in those drawers.  The best of looks and the best of function.  Knock box can sit in the top drawer, and all of the storage you need for cups and beans.

Cute laundry room, soft blue gray tone.  A little cleaner than some of the other spaces in the house, and I love how the crown and light valence trim turned out.

And these baths!  Oh these baths!  Each is different, but all carry a similar tone and weight throughout the project.  More to come too, Mudroom, Master Bath and Living Room Built-Ins.

A little bit beachy, a little bit elegant, and you've got to admit, some of these are just a lot of fun.

Monday Morning - We Were Due, But Not That Kind of Due!

Were we do or what?  It felt like spring, like the ice and snow (and sleet) had finally started to break. And thank God for that, I needed it.  I think I was starting to feel a bit of the winter blues.

Went and visited the soon to be grandparents down on the family farm.  Ran a few errands and did a little shopping as well.

Stumbled upon this cool tufted stool, could be better with nicer fabric or great quality leather, but it's inspiring all the same!

Herschal back-pack? Okay.  How sweet is this!?

Take care, have a good safe week.
