A Day in the life...

Artist Peter Crawley is the genius behind these stitched illustrations.   All pieces are hand stitched on various stocks of paper with a needle and cotton thread.  I can just hear the needle puncturing the paper, it reminds me of my childhood!

This piece is titled by the song A day in the life and each line represents 1min of audio. 

I love all of the pieces he has completed but when I realized he also did architectural pieces...well he had me at 

The Empire State Building!!

Beautiful right?  The attention to detail is just amazing.

The 3/4 british in me is so proud of him lol.  Those Brits know how to do it up right.

Following the trail to S.Russell Groves

     I stumbled upon this post over at Digs Digs a while back, and really fell in love with it.  This is the way you renovate and incorporate the existing structure, and heritage of that structure, while breathing new life into a space.

     I love old and new, renovated contemporary.  So, I follow a few links, a few more links and voila, I find the source.  What I didn't expect to find was that this great loft space by the same architect, S.Russell Groves.  Taken from their Philosophy section, "a fresh modern aesthetic with sophisticated materials and luxurious finishes - bringing together the best of contemporary design, comfort and style."

I love that this space has a little bit of deco, a little bit of contemporary flair, and some great classic lines.  The pops of colours brighten this space so much, and look at these architectural details throughout.  Amazing.  Great combinations of style, eclectic design is so much fun.

{Patterned Floors}

I've always been a fan of patterned tile floors, this picture started this love and has always been my favourite. I have visions of this floor in my front hall of my future condo...if only I could find it.

Walking into The Diner at The Thompson Hotel reminded me of how much I love to see pattern on the floor.

Brass is back...

...but that is something we already knew, however I have yet to see it in this application.

I stumbled across this home while looking through my fav online magazine site, Living Etc.  This home is by Dominic McKenzie Architects out of London, I was so drawn to it's clean, simple and fresh lines.

Although I instantly fell in love with the kitchen. I was equally excited about the rest of the house, but I'm a sucker for white walls! Check it out here.

Weekend Pics - The Ultimate Long Weekend

I had the perfect weekend!!! It started with celebrating a special Birthday Extravaganza with a very special friend Saturday evening. We are talking cake and champagne, it was my kind of party!!! Then on Sunday, me and my fiance enjoyed a very luxurious brunch at Le Méridien King Edward downtown.

Jim Cuddy @ Massey Hall

its missing something.....?

     Tuesday night was late night, but a good night.  My almost wife and I headed down the TTC to the college exit, after a drink and a quick bite, went to Massey Hall for the Jim Cuddy concert.  His latest album, Skyscraper Soul is an unofficial tribute to Toronto.

     This was my first time at Massey Hall, and what a building!  It has the feeling of many layers of paint, and a few different renos, but the bones are fantastic.  

     Doug Paisley opened for Jim, check him out.  Great opening act.  His music, and humour, got the crowd in the right state of mind.  After Doug came the Jim Cuddy band. They played for over two hours, no real breaks and put on an amazing show.  We've been fans forever, great to hear some of the old tunes, but the new tunes were great too, everyone was singing.

     Fantastic concert, great show, great venue, so entertaining. Massey Music Hall was presented to the citizens of Toronto on June 14th, 1894.  All of the citizens should check this place out.


     And of course, TTC'd it home in no time.  Who knew Tuesdays could be such fun?

Now, if I can only find the time to see Whitehorse play there on the 24th.....
