Girl in the Big City aka Big Girl in the City

I'm kind of sick of thinking and talking about my dining room wall  (here and here). It's still begging me for some sort of wall paper or paint. Aren't you tired of hearing about it?

So I'm scrolling through my Pinterest page and I come across this pic and it hits me!  I love it when a creative idea practically hits you in the face!  My wall is calling for a skyline!  A skyline I say! If I could do it with a cord like they did above that would be amazing.  Check out the rest of their work here.
The first skyline that came to mind was Chicago.

Chicago is such a beautiful city, it would be perfect for my wall.  But as I always do, I start thinking about options.

Paris, London or maybe New York.

I'm loving that skyline rug of London too!

Or maybe I could do a mixture of all my fav buildings in one painting.  That would keep me from second guessing which city.  I promise I will have finished photos of my condo in the new year!

The Wythe Hotel - Brooklyn

My one and only time I've been to New York I stayed at The Hudson Hotel and absolutely loved it.   So while reading my latest copy of Living Etc and noticed an article on New York hotels I was excited.

The Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn was featured at the start and it immediately caught my eye.

I love that floor!

Oh and that floor in the shower.

The suites have so much character and a very loft type feel.

There are three restaurants in the hotel, Reynards, The Ides and the Private Dining Room.

My next visit to NY will for sure have to include a stay at the Wythe.

Tour de Paris

So I've been debating about adding wall paper somewhere in my condo.  But I'm stuck on what colour,  what pattern and most importantly what wall!  Then I remembered seeing a booth at IDS this past January of some amazing wallpaper.

Rollout has a wicked selection of vintage map wallpapers from both New York and Paris. They also have tons of other wallpapers regarding the two cities and custom papers.

I of course favour the Paris map, what a surprise right?! The pics below aren't from Rollout but are some great examples of map wall papers.

These papers completely remind of a mural wall paper my grandparents had on one wall when I was growing up.  Brings back wonderful memories.

The use of any kind of map as wallpaper creates a beautiful visual backdrop.  Ok I'm off to figure out what wall to have this on!
