Weekend To Do's - Cabbagetown and Roncesvalles

Ah, the weekend is finally upon us.  I've got to meet up with a client on Saturday for a little sourcing, but after that, I'm hitting the town with a good buddy. Any suggestions where we should be going?  Read on, and I'll tell you what you should be doing.

Now, the Jays and the Red Sox aren't exactly lighting it up as of late. But it is a 3 game series, and it is a Division series and thats worth watching!

On Saturday,(and I think Sunday too), there is a Polish festival in Roncesvalles.  We're talking Bigos! Borscht! And of course, Pierogies!

When you wake up Sunday, maybe go for a jog to burn of some of the Pol'ski eats from the day before.  Then make your way to Cabbagetown for their house tour.  Great bits of old Toronto and chances to get behind some doors you normally can't enter.

Oh, and of course, there's always TIFF.

Weekend To Do's - TIFF Edition

Once again the film world descends on Toronto.  For the next week you can be the first to see some fantastic films from all over the world.  There are Hollywood blockbusters, small budget indie films, and even some Bollywood features.  Of course, it's not just films, its celeb spotting and the TIFF parties that grab a lot of a attention as well.

The Master
Some of the bigger films to check out? Looper andCloud Atlas. I've heard The Master is supposed to be fantastic. That being said, these movies are big names and will be coming to your local cinema. If you want something a little less known, see if you can get your hands on Room 237 (a doc about The Shining) or Far From Afghanistan.

Skyy Vodka started off the party on Wednesday night in an alleyway next to the Lightbox.    The parties and events run all weekend and into the week.  I can't tell you where to go, but I can tell you who to talk to to find out where to go. Toronto Life has you covered.  They've got up to date info on TIFF news, parties and red carpet events.

On the sports front, instead of heading to a Jays game, (just give up already), the Argos are playing the Ti-Cats.  Nice cross-town (almost cross town) grudge match.

There are a couple of great spots to fill your belly this weekend. The 28th annual Vegetarian Food Fest down at the Harbourfront Centre to start.  All eats, all veggie.  If you aren't vegetarian, maybe head down and learn about it, you won't be disappointed in the food, even if you're a big red meat eater.   If you are coming from the west and don't want to go all the way downtown, there is the Taste of the Kingsway as well.

To sum up, eat, film, party.  That's a solid Toronto weekend plan.
